Things to Know about Yachts of Seabourn
Air Add-on
If you book your airfare through Seabourn, you’ll receive your itinerary and seat assignments approximately 45 days prior to sailing. You may also customize your air requests. As long as your request doesn’t specify a particular carrier or route, the first request is complimentary. All other requests will be arranged for a $75 per person fee. You may also book your pre- and post-cruise hotel accommodations via Seabourn’s hotel program. The package includes accommodations, full American breakfast, the services of a Seabourn representative, all taxes and service charges, porterage, and transfers between the hotel and ship.
Alcohol Policies
All wines and spirits are included in your cruise fare. You may also bring aboard wine and champagne to enjoy in your stateroom. A $10 per bottle corkage fee applies if you prefer to drink those bottles in one of the ship’s restaurants or lounges.
All-Inclusive Policy
Seabourn’s all-inclusive policy includes all meals, wines and spirits, and entertainment. Tipping is neither required nor expected.
Here are a few things that aren’t included in your Seabourn cruise fare:
- Dry cleaning, laundry, and valet service
- Beauty salon, massage, and other spa treatments
- Satellite, radio-telephone calls, e-mail, telegrams, and faxes
- Shore excursions and travel arrangements
- Medical consultation and medication
- Miscellaneous hotel and dining room charges, such as those for entertaining guests
- Photographs
- Gift shop purchases
Beauty Salon
The Spa at Seabourn offers a complete range of beauty treatments, including manicures, pedicures, facials, and hair styling.
Butler / Concierge Service
A very capable stewardess will tend to your stateroom. Direct any special requests to her.
Cancellation Policies
Seabourn’s cancellation policy for cruises up to 31 days in length is as follows:
- Cruise cancelled 46–90 days before departure: 25 percent of full fare
- Cruise cancelled 31–45 days before departure: 50 percent of full fare
- Cruise cancelled 30 days or less before departure: 100 percent of full fare
- No shows: 100 percent of full fare
Cash / Credit Cards / Foreign Currency
Your onboard account may be settled with MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and JCB credit cards; cash; or travelers checks.
Children’s Program
Children are welcome onboard Seabourn, but it’s not the best cruise line for a family vacation since there are no formal children’s entertainment programs.
Cruise Documents
Your cruise documents will arrive about three months prior to embarkation.
Dining
Famed chef Charlie Palmer designs all the menus for Seabourn and each ship offers two main dining experiences: The Restaurant, an open-seating venue, and Restaurant 2, tasting menus by reservation.
For more casual fare and light meals, there is the Patio Grill onboard the Odyssey, and the Sky Grill and Veranda Café onboard the triplets.
Notify Seabourn in writing at least one month prior to sailing of any special dietary requirements. Reconfirmed with the Maitre D once onboard your ship.
Disabled Guest Services
There are limited facilities available for guests in wheelchairs. The following staterooms are wheelchair accessible:
Legend, Pride, and Spirit: Category A2, Suite 232, 234; Category A1: Suite 134, 136
Odyssey: Category V6, Suites 715, 813, 913; Category PH; Suite 635; Category V2, Suite 519; and Category Suite A, Suite 408
Dress Code
Daywear and eveningwear on nights other than designated formal nights is informal. Dress code for dinnertime is stipulated on a day-to-day basis according to the evening itinerary. It is generally casual to elegant casual: sundresses, skirts, blouses, slacks or smart pants, and sweaters for women, and trousers with sweaters or shirts and a jacket for men. Daywear is casual and inclusive of Bermuda shorts or walking shorts. Bathing suits, cover-ups, and exercise clothing is to be reserved for the pool deck and spa areas only.
Electrical Outlets
All suites onboard the ships are fitted with both 110-volt and 220-volt electrical outlets.
Embarkation
Guests may board the ship approximately two hours prior to the specified sailing time.
Fellow Passengers
Seabourn’s unique itineraries and small ships lure older guests that desire a more intimate cruise and eschew crowds. Most Seabourn passengers look forward to formal nights.
Formal Nights
During a one-week cruise, there is generally one formal night. If you do not wish to dress up, you may order dinner from The Restaurant’s menu to enjoy in your own stateroom.
Gratuities
Gratuities are neither expected nor required.
In-Suite Bar Setup
All suites are equipped with a complimentary in-suite bar that is re-stocked daily.
In-Suite Safe
All suites onboard all yachts have a private electronic safe.
In-Suite Television
All suites come standard with a flat-screen television and a DVD player, with the exception of suites onboard the Odyssey. These suites are equipped with interactive flat-screen televisions with movies, music, and media and DVD player. Suites also have Bose system and three channels of closed circuit radio.
In-Suite Toiletries
All bathrooms are furnished with Molten Brown toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and designer soaps by Hermes and L’Occitane.
Laundry, Pressing, and Dry Cleaning
Dry cleaning, laundering and pressing services are available for an extra charge. Your suite attendants will take care of collection and delivery for you, and same day service is available for a further extra charge. Alternatively, there are complimentary launderettes for guest use.
Library: Books, CDs, and DVDs
The onboard library stocks an extensive range of books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, and DVDs available for guests to borrow.
Luggage Delivery Service
Seabourn offers their Personal Valet Luggage Service for guests not wanting to travel with their luggage. One phone call to 888-491-0771 will arrange for your bags to be collected from your home and taken to the airport for transportation to the ship.
Medical Facilities
Seabourn has a small medical facility onboard that is staffed by medical professionals and contains a limited amount of medication. This facility is equipped to deal with medical emergencies and common maladies, such as seasickness.
Newspapers
A range of newspapers are available in the onboard library.
Past Guest Program
“Seabourn Club”: http://www.seabourn.com/Club/Benefits/, the cruise line’s past guest loyalty program, entitles you to savings of up to 50 percent on specific sailings. Once you’ve sailed 140 nights with Seabourn, you’ll receive a complimentary 14-night cruise. Seabourn Club members are also invited to private parties and receive special recognition for their patronage.
Pets
Please leave your pet at home unless it’s a service animal. (Service animals are permitted by prior arrangement.)
Religious Services
On Sundays at sea, Seabourn arranges non-denominational religious services. On specific religious holidays, clergy will also be available to conduct services.
Room Service
Complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day.
Ship-to-Shore Communications
Seabourn ships have onboard GSM mobile phone networks so you should be able to use your cell phone. All staterooms are equipped with telephones. There is also a 24-hour computer center for your e-mail and Internet needs. Alternatively, there are wi-fi hotspots in the suites and other locations througout the ships.
Shore Excursions
The cruise line offers a variety of traditional shore excursions. By consulting the Signature Service Desk, guests may also arrange private shore excursions in almost any port of call.
Single Supplement Policy
Single guests occupying double occupancy rooms will pay 200 percent of the cruise fare unless they are able to take advantage of the Single Travelers Savings Program:
- A limited amount of staterooms are set aside in categories A–B3 on the Legend, Pride, and Spirit, and A–PH on the Odyssey for single travelers. The single supplement is 175 percent of the double occupancy fare.
- Category A or higher single travelers can take advantage of the “Run of the Ship” special whereby they pay 150 percent of the double occupancy fare
There is also a “run of ship” single savings option for category A fares. A 125 or 150 percent single supplement will apply.
Smoking Policy
Please refrain from smoking in the following areas of the ship:
- Guest suites
- Inside and outside the restaurants
- In the Grand Salon and Seabourn Square (except after 9:00 p.m., when an outdoor area of Seabourn Square is reserved for cigar smokers)
- In the Club and Casino, as well as the Card Room
- In the meeting rooms
- All corridors, elevators, and elevator lobbies
Spa Services
The Spa at Seabourn offers a cadre of treatment options, including Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage, Chinese Tui Na, Thai Massage, Balinese Massage, Indian Ayurvedic, Middle Eastern, Swedish Massage, Reflexology, Japanese Shiatsu, and Reiki.
Transfers
Ground transfers are included with Seabourn’s air and hotel packages. If you have arranged for your own air and hotel, ask your travel agent if you may purchase a ground transfer from Seabourn.
Travel Insurance
Seabourn Shield cruise protection offers guests optional coverage for a nominal fee. This plan is designed by BerkelyCare and can be instated by calling 1-800-828-2459. The protection plan covers the following:
- Trip interruption or cancellation—up to $50,000
- Trip delay—$1,000
- Baggage protection—$3,000 for luggage that is damaged or lost, $500 for misdirected or delayed luggage
- Medical Expenses—up to $20,000 for illnesses or injuries sustained while on the cruise
- 24-hour assistance
