Things to Know about Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Note: The Paul Gauguin, sailing yearround in French Polynesia, is leaving the Regent fleet as of January 2010. Paul Gauguin Cruises will take over management and marketing of the ship, but Regent Seven Seas Society members will still enjoy discounts and other benefits aboard the PG in the future.

Air Add-on

Air add-ons are available from Regent. Schedules are sent approximately 90 days prior to your sail date. If you’re sailing with friends or family, ask Regent to cross-reference your bookings and they’ll make every effort to make sure you’re all on the same flights. If you require customized arrangements (specific airline, flight, or arrival/departure dates), Regent will assist you for a fee of $100 per person.

Alcohol Policies

You may bring wine, beer, and other spirits onboard and Regent charges no corkage fee. However, with the cruise line’s all-inclusive policy that covers alcohol, bringing your own favorite bottle of wine may not be necessary.

All-Inclusive Policy

Regent’s cruise fares includes all non-alcoholic beverages, select wines, and spirits; 24-hour room service; in-suite minibar replenished daily with soft drinks, beer, and bottled water; butler service in Category B suites and above; in-suite bar setup in butler suites; and all gratuities.

Beauty Salon

The Carita of Paris Spa offers manicures and pedicures, facials, body exfoliations, body wraps, skin care therapies, and massages.

Bon Voyage Gifts

Regent offers various bon voyage gifts, including wine and champagne, flowers, onboard credits, and more. For full details, call Regent at 1-877-505-5370.

Butler / Concierge Service

Butler service is included in category Penthouse B suites and higher on all Regent ships, except the Paul Gauguin. Book a category Veranda B or higher to enjoy butler service on the PG.

Cancellation Policies

Cancellation penalties are assessed as follows:
120–91 days prior to sailing date: $200 administration fee per person
90–60 days prior to sailing date: 10 percent of fare per person
59–30 days prior to sailing date: 25 percent of fare per person
29–15 days prior to sailing date: 50 percent of fare per person
14–0 days prior to sailing date: 100 percent of fare per person

Cash / Credit Cards / Foreign Currency

American Express, Mastercard, and Visa are accepted onboard Regent ships. Foreign currency exchange is sometimes available onboard during certain itineraries.

Children’s Program

Regent offers its Club Mariner program for children of all ages from toddlers to teens. Specially trained counselors supervise all activities. Call Regent or ask your travel agent for more information since Club Mariner is not available on every sailing.

Cruise Documents

Your cruise documents will arrive about 25 days prior to your voyage.

Deposit Policy

You must make a deposit of 15 percent (20 percent for World Cruise and Paul Gauguin voyages) of the total cruise fare within 72 hours of making your reservation.

Dining

Please advise Regent’s reservations department of any special dietary requirements at least 60 days prior to sailing. General requests such as low salt or low cholesterol foods may be made onboard the ship—speak with the dining waitstaff.

Voyager restaurants

  • Compass Rose: the ship’s main restaurant serving continental cuisine at breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Signatures Restaurant: French cuisine inspired by Le Cordon Bleu of Paris (by reservation only; jackets required for men)
  • Prime 7: a classic steakhouse (by reservation only)
  • La Veranda: buffets at breakfast and lunch and regional specialties served at dinner

Mariner restaurants

  • Compass Rose: the ship’s main restaurant serving continental cuisine at breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Le Grill: poolside breakfast buffet; grilled specialties served at lunch and dinner
  • L’Etoile: French food infused with Polynesian flavor
  • La Verandah: French cuisine inspired by Le Cordon Bleu of Paris (by reservation only)

Dress Code

Regent suggests three styles of dress during their cruises: Formal (gowns, cocktail dresses, tuxedos, dinner jackets, dark suits), Country Club Casual (skirts, slacks, blouses, sweaters, collared shirts), and Informal (dresses, pantsuits, jackets, collared shirts with ties). Guests should not wear shorts in public areas after 6 p.m. In addition, passengers clad in bathing suits are not allowed in the restaurants or lounges at any time. Typically, a seven-night cruise has one formal night. Longer voyages may have two or more. Dress code for Alaska, Bermuda, Caribbean, and Tahiti sailings is Country Club casual.

Electrical Outlets

All staterooms are equipped with 110V electrical outlets.

Embarkation

Generally speaking, you may board the ship between noon and 1 pm. However, suites aren’t usually available for checking in until 3 pm. Guests must embark no later than an hour before the specified sailing time, unless sailing from a US Port where US Customs and Border Protection requirements must be met, then guests must embark no later than an hour and a half before sailing.

Fellow Passengers

Regent attracts a well-educated, well-traveled, and well-heeled crowd. Many are loyal repeat guests. The age range varies depending on the itinerary, but you’ll rarely meet anyone in their twenties, a few couples in their thirties and forties, while the majority are 50+.

Formal Nights

A seven-night cruise usually hosts one formal night; longer cruises will have two or more.

Gentlemen Hosts / Dance Partners

Gentlemen hosts/dance partners are onboard many Regent itineraries. Enjoy a whirl out on the dance floor in the evening or take an afternoon dance class to brush up your technique. Dancing is a very popular pastime on all Regent ships.

Gratuities

All gratuities are included in your cruise fare. You may tip in addition to this, but it is not necessary. You may also contribute to the Crew Welfare Fund. Stop by the purser’s desk for more information.

In-Suite Bar Setup

On the Paul Gauguin, there is an in stateroom refrigerator with water, soft drinks and beers. In categories B and above, staterooms are replenished with an in-suite bar stocking a selection of wines and liquors. On the Seven Seas Mariner, Voyager and Navigator there is an in-suite bar upon embarkation and daily replenishment of waters, soft drinks and beers.

In-Suite Safe

The Seven Seas Navigator, Mariner, Voyager and the Paul Gauguin are all equipped with safes in the staterooms and suites.

In-Suite Television

The Seven Seas Navigator, Mariner and Voyager suites are equipped with interactive flat screen televisions and media selections. Paul Gauguin staterooms are fitted with televisions and CD players. Owners suites, Grand suites and Category A suites onboard the Paul Gauguin have DVD players.

In-Suite Toiletries

Regent no longer uses Aveda products onboard. Instead, your stateroom will be outfitted with Regent-branded toiletries.

Laundry, Pressing, and Dry Cleaning

Complimentary self-service washers, dryers, and ironing facilities are available aboard Regent’s Mariner, Navigator, and Voyager (no self-service laundry on the Paul Gauguin). Full laundry and dry cleaning services are available for a fee on all ships.

Library: Books, CDs, and DVDs

All Regent ships maintain well-stocked libraries of books, DVDs, and games.

Luggage Delivery Service

Regent Seven Seas has partnered with Luggage Free to offer guests door-to-door luggage collection and delivery service. The company will pick up your luggage at home, take it to the airport, through customs, collect it at your destination, and see it through customs again before delivering it to your cruise ship suite. Medical Facilities

A doctor and nurse are onboard each ship for emergency services, which are available at customary charges. The ships’ medical centers are designed to provide medical care for temporary illnesses and accidents and are not intended or capable of providing on-going treatment of pre-existing medical conditions.

Newspapers

Daily news is transmitted to Regent ships each day and a summary of the day’s happenings are distributed to all guest suites.

Past Guest Program

Regent’s Seven Seas Society offers special privileges to returning guests, including savings of 5 to 10 percent on select voyages. This five-tier program is designed to reward guests for the amount of days spent at sea with Regent. Other benefits include onboard savings, special cruise offers, and exclusive news and events. Levels are: Bronze (four to 20 nights), Silver (21–74 nights), Gold (75–199 nights), Platinum (200–399 nights), and Titanium (400+ nights).

Pets

Regent asks that you leave your precious pets at home; they are not allowed aboard any Regent cruise ship.

Room Service

Twenty-four hour complimentary room service is available in all stateroom categories.

Ship-to-Shore Communications

Telephone calls may be made directly from your suite. Regent ships also utilize the Wireless Maritime Service (WMS) mobile network, Cellular at Sea. Most GMS and CDMA cell phones should be able to access this service. Call your cellular service provider for more information. Fax service is also available. As for Internet access, each Regent ship offers several computer stations for your convenience. You can pay as you go and access the Internet for $0.35 per minute or purchase a package: 100 minutes for $25 or 250 minutes for $50. Wireless Internet access is also available in certain areas of most Regent vessels.

Ship’s Photographer

Regent no longer offers an onboard professional photographer. You’ll need to take all those memorable snaps yourself.

Single Supplement Policy

Single supplements are typically 100 percent for named suites, 75 percent for penthouse suites, and range from 10 to 40 percent for deluxe suites.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited in the staterooms, suites, and on balconies. No smoking is allowed in any of the dining areas or public areas, with the exception of the Pool Grill areas and open decks. The only public rooms where smoking is permitted are as listed per ship:

  • Mariner: Casino, Connoisseur Club, Pool Bar, outside area of the Horizon Lounge, and the specified area of Stars Lounge
  • Navigator: Casino, Connoisseur Club, Pool Bar, the outside area of Galileo’s, and the specified area of Stars Lounge
  • Paul Gauguin: Pool Bar, outside area of La Palette, and the specified area of Le Grill
  • Voyager: Casino, Connoisseur Club, Pool Bar, outside are of the Horizon Lounge, and the specified are of the Voyager Lounge

Spa Services

Each Regent ship houses a Carita of Paris Spa and fitness center. A variety of spa, health and revitalization treatments, massages, body wraps, thalassotherapy, reflexology, and beauty treatments are available.

Special Occasions

For special occasions such as anniversaries, weddings, birthdays or honeymoons, please specify on your Guest Information Form or notify your travel consultant at least 4 to 6 weeks prior to your departure. Alternatively, for last minute special occasions Category B guests and higher can consult their butlers to make the necessary arrangements

Special Requests

If you’re celebrating a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon, or other special event while onboard a Regent cruise, be sure to note it on your Guest Information Form and return it to the cruise line four to six weeks before departure. Once onboard, talk with your butler or guest services for other special requests.

Transfers

If you didn’t purchase Regent’s air add-on package, you may still be able to buy a ground transfer from the cruise line. Call Regent or discuss with your travel agent.

Travel Insurance

The RegentCare Guest Protection Program is facilitated by BerkelyCare and can be purchased by calling 1-800-453-4023. RegentCare Guest Protection Program offers the following coverage:

  • Trip cancellation or interruption—up to $50,000
  • Trip delay or missed connection—$1,000
  • Emergency evacuation or repatriation of remains—up to $50,000
  • Medical coverage—up to $10,000
  • Baggage protection—up to $2,500 for damaged or stolen baggage and $1,000 for lost or delayed baggage
  • 24-hour emergency assistance
