Things to Know about Oceania Cruises
Air Add-on
Like other cruise lines, Oceania offers air add-ons. Deviation requests may be arranged for $75 per person.
Alcohol Policies
You may bring wine or champagne onboard to enjoy in your stateroom or pay a $20 per bottle corkage fee to drink that bottle in one of Oceania’s restaurants.
All-Inclusive Policy
Oceania Cruises does not offer an all-inclusive policy. You will pay extra for alcoholic beverages.
Beauty Salon
The Oceania Mandara Spa offers manicures and pedicures, facials, hair removal, and full hairdressing and styling.
Bon Voyage Gifts
You may order Bon Voyage Gifts up to two weeks before sailing. Selections include champagne ($39–240 per bottle), red or white wine ($39–$86 per bottle), flowers ($50+), shipboard credit, and spa gift certificates.
Butler / Concierge Service
Butler service is exclusive to Penthouse, Vista, and Owner’s Suite guests. The concierge is always available on Deck 4 and can assist with any queries or arrangements that need to be made.
Cancellation Policies
A full refund will be made to guests who cancel more than 91 days prior to departure. Any cancellations made between 60 and 90 days before departure will be refunded in full, less a $500 administration charge per person. Any cancellations made between 30 and 59 days before departure will be refunded in full less 50 percent of the total cruise fare per person. Cancellations made between 15 and 29 days before departure will be refunded in full less 75 percent of the total cruise fare per person. Any cancellations made 14 days or less before departure will be charged at 100 percent of the cruise fare.
Cash / Credit Cards / Foreign Currency
Oceania accepts Mastercard, Visa, and American Express. Foreign currency can also often be exchanged at reception for a 5 percent transaction fee.
Children’s Program
Children are welcome on board Oceania Cruises, but there are no designated children’s programs available.
Cruise Documents
You will receive your cruise documents approximately one month prior to sailing.
Dining
There are four restaurants offering open seating, and smaller café-style eateries for light meals:
- The Grand Dining Room features continental cuisine
- The Polo Grill offers steaks, prime beef, chops, and fresh seafood
- Toscana serves Italian food with a Tuscan influence
- The Terrace is the place to head for breakfast and lunch buffets
- Tapas on the Terrace provides guests with Mediterranean entrees and tapas
- Waves is a casual poolside dining area serving salads, sandwiches, and grilled items
Disabled Guest Services
Guests requiring wheelchairs or motorized scooters must bring their own on board, and wheelchairs must be of a standard size (no more than 22 inches wide). The Insignia, Nautica, and Regatta offer four wheelchair-accessible staterooms: 4028, 4034, 4035, and 4038 (G, Inside Stateroom).
Dress Code
General attire for men and women is smart casual, country club or resort style clothing. Tank tops and swimwear are inappropriate attire for any of the public areas and restaurants. Tapas on the Terrace is a more casual dining area and allows for smart shorts and casual tops in the evenings, but Toscana, the Polo Grill and the Grand Dining Room require smarter attire. No jeans, sandals, shorts, t-shirts or sports shoes will be permitted in these dining areas.
Electrical Outlets
All staterooms are equipped with both 110V (American) and 220V (European) electrical outlets.
Embarkation
The embarkation time will be stipulated inside your cruise documents, but in most cases you may board the ship at 3pm. Your cruise ticket and passport will need to be presented at the check-in facility. You will be presented with your OceaniaWorldCard and may then proceed to board the ship.
Fellow Passengers
Oceania Cruises attracts travelers who love cruising and getting a great value. (Just a step below luxury lines like its sister company Regent Seven Seas, Oceania itineraries offer some of the best per diem rates available today.) Travelers are well educated, adventurous, and often arrange their own shore diversion instead of purchasing Oceania’s excursions. People of all ages sail with Oceania.
Formal Nights
Zip. Nada. Oceania does not host formal nights onboard so there’s no need for the old tuxedo or ball gown.
Gentlemen Hosts / Dance Partners
There are no gentleman hosts aboard Oceania ships.
Gratuities
A fee of $12.50 per guest per day will be added to your onboard account to cover gratuity for all restaurant staff and stateroom attendants. Guests staying in penthouse suites will be billed an additional $4 per guest per day for their personal butler service. A gratuity of 18 percent is automatically included with all beverage purchases, spa treatments, and salon services.
In-Suite Bar Setup
Each stateroom is equipped with a minibar stocking bottled water and soft drinks. All charges for drinks consumed from the minibar will be billed to your onboard account.
In-Suite Safe
All suites and staterooms are equipped with a personal safe.
In-Suite Television
All staterooms come standard with a 22-inch color television. Penthouses also have a DVD player, while Vista and Owner’s Suites have flat-screen televisions and entertainment systems with CD players, DVD players, and Bose sound systems.
In-Suite Toiletries All bathrooms are equipped with Caswell-Massey soaps, shampoos and conditioners, bath gel, and body lotion.
Laundry, Pressing, and Dry Cleaning
A self-service laundry and pressing facility can be located on Deck 7. You may also request these services for an additional fee, charged to your onboard accounts.
Library: Books, CDs, and DVDs
Oceania ships have an English-inspired library with over 1,000 book for guests to borrow.
Luggage Delivery Service
Oceania does not work with a luggage delivery service provider.
Medical Facilities
Oceania ships have limited medical facilities and supplies on board, but are available to see guests for common ailments and medical emergencies.
Past Guest Program
Upon commencement of your first cruise with Oceania you’ll become a member of the Oceania Club and will receive a host of benefits, including future cruise discounts.
Pets
Pets, including service animals, are not allowed on board Oceania ships.
Room Service
Complimentary room service is available 24 hours a day.
Ship-to-Shore Communications
Staterooms are equipped with telephones. Faxes may be sent at the reception desk. Mail can be left at reception for postage, and all postage may be purchased onboard. E-mail and Internet services are available to guests 24 hours a day in the library on Deck 10 or at Oceania@Sea located on Deck 9. Internet charges are as follows:
- $0.95 per minute
- Inbound messages that are larger than 200Kb are billed at $2.00 per message
- $80 for 100 minutes
- $140 for 200 minutes
- $300 for 500 minutes
There are also many wi-fi hotspots located in the library, on the pool deck, and in the Upper Hall on Deck 5.
Ship’s Photographer
Oceania Cruises no longer offers onboard photographers.
Shore Excursions
You may book Oceania shore excursions at their website by logging in to My Cruise Planner. Private custom-designed tours may also be arranged with Oceania’s Executive Collection.
Single Supplement Policy
Oceania charges 200% of the double occupancy per person fare for single occupancy.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is not allowed in any of the staterooms, suites, or on the suite verandahs. There are designated smoking areas on Decks 9 and 10, as well as the starboard corner of the Pool Deck and the port corner of Horizons. Cigar and pipe smoking are only permitted on the starboard corner of the Pool Deck.
Spa Services
The Oceania Mandara Spa offers a comprehensive selection of treatments from facials to massages, body wraps, detoxification therapies and cellulite reduction treatments. Products from Elemis, la Therapie, and Ionithermie are used. Spa treatments that don’t require machinery may be enjoyed in your staterooms or out on the private spa deck. The spa deck also has a thelassotherapy whirlpool that can be used one hour before and one hour after your treatments at no extra charge.
Special Requests
Speak with your concierge for any special requests.
Transfers
Oceania will make arrangements for ground transfers to and from the airport for those who booked their air or hotel packages. You may also be able to purchase the ground transfer. Call your travel agent or Oceania for further details.
Travel Insurance
The costs incurred for Oceania’s Travel Protection Program will be included in your final invoice and must be paid with your final payment. This protection plan is administered through BerkelyCare. Coverage includes:
- Refund of cruise fare for interruption or cancellation due to sickness or death in family, natural disasters, traffic accidents, etc.
- $500 for trip delay
- $10,000 for medical expenses
- $25,000 for repatriation of remains or emergency evacuation
- $500 for baggage delay
- $1,500 for loss of baggage or personal items
- Plus 24-hour services for cash transfers, medical assistance, legal assistance, lost documentation assistance, and emergency medical payment assistance
