First in a Trio of Larger Vessels for Seabourn
Seabourn Odyssey caused quite a buzz in the travel industry when it set sail in June 2009. The first ship in a series of three — Odyssey, Sojourn, and Quest — was designed by Yran & Storbraaten and hosts 450 guests per sailing. Ninety percent of her cabins offer verandas and if you’re a spa fan, you’ll definitely be spending a lot of time at the Odyssey‘s two-deck facility. Seabourn’s all-inclusive policy continues aboard the ship and chef Charlie Palmer designed the menus.
Accommodations
The Odyssey was built with a generous space ratio in mind. The ship feels intimate, but never crowded and each suite accommodation offers amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi access and an in-suite bar setup.
Here are the suite categories you may choose from:
- Grand Suite—If you love spacious suites at the bow of the ship, you will adore the 1,135-square-foot Grand Suites (category GR). Located on Deck 7 (suites 700/702 and 701/703), a Grand Suite is also a Signature Suite connected to a Verandah (V4) Suite. You’ll enjoy three verandahs, a living room with dining area, two bedrooms (with queen beds or two twins each), two bathrooms with separate tub (one whirlpool) and shower, guest bath, butler pantry with wet bar, two fully stocked bars, one makeup vanity, two walk-in closets with personal safes, and three flat-screen TVs with DVD players.
- If you prefer a mid-ship location, go for one of the Grand Suites (suites 743/745 and 744/746) that are created by combining a Wintergarden Suite and Verandah (V2) suite. These suites top out at 1,182 square feet with two balconies. Dining
Seabourn loyalists take the dinner hour seriously and love formal nights. Gourmet cuisine is offered at all dining venues, including:
- The Restaurant—Famed chef Charlie Palmer designed the menus for the main dining room aboard Odyssey. This venue is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Restaurant 2—This is the place to head for tasting menus paired with fine wine from Seabourn’s cellar.
- The Colonnade—The newest dining venue from Seabourn, The Colonnade is an indoor/outdoor restaurant featuring an open kitchen. Breakfast, lunch, and themed dinners are staged here.
- Patio Grill—Casual poolside dining is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- In-Suite Dining—Enjoy 24-hour in-suite service or, for dinner, enjoy menus from The Restaurant, served course by course.
Daytime Diversions
- Seabourn Square is where the action takes place on Odyssey. It’s part concierge lounge, part Internet cafĂ©, part coffee bar. Head here to have your questions answered, to check your e-mail, or grab a cappuccino.
- Marina—One of the things that make Seabourn ships so unique are their Marinas. Open while at select ports, you may enjoy a “sea pool” while engaging in all types of complimentary water sports.
- Card Room—Game players seek out the card room for card and board games.
- Sunterrace—This is the spot I’d head for on my sea days! The Sunterrace offers double sun-beds. It’s a wonderfully comfy location to sun bathe, read a book, or enjoy a cocktail with friends.
- Pools and whirlpools—The Odyssey also has two outdoor pools, one indoor thalassotherapy pool, and six whirlpools.
Nightlight
- Grand Salon—This multipurpose salon is used for movie viewing, cabaret performances, and dancing.
- Lounges—For those who enjoy an evening cocktail, there are several bars to choose from: the Observation Bar with gorgeous ocean views, the Sky Bar, the outdoor Patio Bar, and The Club, featuring live music and a late-night DJ.
