Coming to a Port Near You—January 2011
On March 7, 2009, the keel was laid for Marina, Oceania Cruises’ first purpose-built vessel. Oceania designers took all the best features of the Regatta-Class ships—Insignia, Nautica, and Regatta—and added additional staterooms, six open-seating restaurants, and a 20 percent increase in cruising speed to come up with the Oceania-Class. The first Oceania-Class ship, Marina, will set sail in January 2011. A second ship, Riviera, is also in the works.
The Nuts and Bolts
Shipbuilder Fincantieri is currently constructing the 1,256-passenger Marina. When all is said and done, she’ll weight in at an estimated 66,000 tons with a length of 782 feet, a width of 105 feet, and a 24-foot draft. Her cruising speed will clock in at 20 knots. Diesel electric motors will control Marina‘s two controllable pitch propellers.
Suites and Staterooms
When it comes to accommodations, Marina will feature 628 cabins:
- Owner’s Suites (2,000 square feet)
- Vista Suites (1,200 square feet)
- Oceania Suites (1,000 square feet)
- Penthouse Suites in three categories (420 square feet)
- Veranda Staterooms—Concierge Levels 1–4 (282 square feet)
- Veranda Staterooms in four categories (282 square feet)
- Deluxe Ocean View Staterooms (242 square feet)
- Inside Staterooms in two categories (174 square feet)
You probably noticed the huge increase in veranda suites. In fact, 96 percent of Marina‘s cabins feature teak verandas.
